Stairlift Installation
Your Fitting Appointment
When it comes to your stairlift installation, you may have a few questions:
For example, how long will it take? How do I prepare for my installation appointment? And so on. There’s no need to worry. With over 23 years in business, and having installed thousands of stairlifts in homes throughout the South East, we’re here to offer you the peace of mind you deserve. Equally, great care – even down to the smallest details.
When we’ve completed your installation, we’ll show you how to use your brand-new stairlift. It’s easy. Why not glide upstairs – and down again, a few times, just because it’s there, and you can!
To keep you in the picture, we’ve bullet-pointed everything from start to finish. But, do get in touch if you have any questions.
Acknowledging You’re at Home
Firstly and most importantly, the Southern Stairlifts team will always be aware that they’re in your home. And, that your safety and privacy is of the utmost importance.
Yes, you’re looking forward to using your stairs again. Yet, the presence of installers, no matter how professional they are, can be stressful.
Therefore, your needs come first, and they’ll treat you – and your property – with great consideration, and leave your home as clean and tidy as when they found it.
Your Stairlift Installation Appointment
Managing Your Expectations
We’ll give you plenty of notice, and confirm the date and time a few days beforehand. You’ll already be aware of how long it will take; a straight stairlift can be installed quicker than a bespoke, curved option, for example.
You’ll have the chance to make personal arrangements, should this be necessary.
Preparing for Your Stairlift Installation
If you can, for safety reasons, try to ensure that there’s a clear passage from the entry to your home to where your stairlift is being installed. However, your installation team can take care of this if necessary.
There’s no need to remove the stair carpet, as in most cases the stairlift will be installed directly on top of it. If you’re not sure, just get in touch with us to check.
You may wish temporarily to remove any wall hangings and pictures on your staircase. Also, just for a couple of hours, it’s best to keep your pets away from the small amount of dust that may result from the installation.
Taking Care of the Small Things
Is a door “in the way”? We’ll already have worked out a way round this in our design.
Although powered by powerful lithium batteries, your stairlift will require a nearby power point for re-charging, and we’ll be happy to fit this for you. Again, fully within your quote.
If you need any larger fixtures and fittings to be removed and disposed of, Southern Stairlifts will manage this for you.
IMPORTANT: Please be reassured to know that our stairlifts fix to your staircase and NOT to the wall. Therefore, there is very little mess or disruption (although the team have vacuums with them, for on-the-spot clean ups).
Process-Driven
We’ll install and fit your new stairlift as efficiently as possible.
What we mean is, the team is process-driven. This is important, as they’ll know what to do when, where and how – and who will be doing it. This ensures that we keep to time, and that the work is of the highest quality, to full safety standards.
All Done
When everything has been completed, we’ll carry out a number of safety checks, and will show you how to use your stairlift.
We’ll then talk you through your warranty cover (remember, we offer a number of standard and premium warranties, plus extended ones) and will ask you to add your signature to a sign-off sheet, along with ours.
